Mildred was a caring nurse for over 30 years dedicating her life to the care and comfort of others. She worked in the TB hospital in Lafayette for 7 years. During this time, she made many trips with the nuns that ran the hospital to the Carville Leprosy Colony near Baton Rouge, Louisiana to care for those afflicted with this terrible disease. Mildred continued caring for her children, grandchildren, patients and friends for the rest of her life. In 1969 Mildred returned to the Port Arthur area where she worked as a night nursing supervisor at Park Place Hospital for the next 20 years. Mildred was a devout Catholic who loved her Savior and her Church. However she enjoyed many afternoons of fellowship with her "domino" friends at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Nederland. Mildred worked hard all of her life supporting her girls. However, she was able to spend the last years of her giving life getting to know and enjoy each of her children and grandchildren of whom she was extremely proud.
