Misty Nicole Womack

1975 ∼ 2023

Misty Nicole Womack, 48, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 in Nederland. Misty was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina on May 14, 1975 to Jimmy Womack, Jr. and Karen Willis Fontenot.

Misty was a known lover of the horror genre of media, heavy metal music, and classical cartoons. She was a student of film, and to her, experiencing new movies was the same as a tasting of fine wine. Her opinions in this area were regarded highly among friends and family, as was her taste in music. In line with this love of music, she was a beloved friend to the local bands of Southeast Texas. Her fiance, Kieth Hunter, and her brother, Jimmy Womack III (affectionately known to Misty as "Boomer") were members of multiples of these bands, and Misty was always glad to share her support. Misty was known well for her humor, sarcasm, and thoughtfulness- everyone who knew her knew that, when sharing a conversation with her, they were bound to get a few laughs in the most unexpected of places. Holidays were always a special time for excitement; Misty always knew what to get for the people she loved, and everyone knew that she paid attention and planned her gifts far, far in advance. Misty also took pride in being ordained at the Church of the Latter-Day Dude, using such distinction to put as much good into the world as she could. She performed weddings for dear friends, and gladly took her payment in coffee. They say that the world takes the good too soon. And to the world, she was one of the best.

Those left to cherish Misty’s memory include her mother, Karen Fontenot and her step-father, Kevin of Port Acres, Texas; her daughter, Fianna Wright of Nederland, Texas; sister, Alana Lambert and her husband, James of Port Acres, Texas; brother, Jimmy Womack, III and his wife, Melinda of Vidor, Texas; grandmother, Vivian Birdwell of San Augustine, Texas; her fiancé, Kieth Hunter of Nederland, Texas; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Misty is preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Womack, Jr.; her daughter, Alexandra Wright and her grandparents, Jimmy Womack, Sr., Jimmy Willis and Patsy Willis.

A gathering to celebrate Misty’s life will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Your Daddy and I were in the Marines and worked together. Some of my best memories was heading over with friends to see your Mom, Dad and you. Karen always welcomed us in. We all had fun bouncing you on our knee and playing games with you. The last time we were all together was Nov 76. I was discharged and going home. It was a very solemn moment. A day that's still fresh in my heart. God speed Misty. we love you.
