Mittie B. Isom, 89, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. She was born on September 9, 1925 in Isla, Texas to the late Oliver Archie Chambers and the late Minnie Velma Chambers. Mittie was manager of retail and fabric sales.

Mittie is survived by her daughter, Vicki Derese and husband, Andy of Hamshire, Texas; son, Kenneth Isom and wife, Suzanne of Nederland, Texas; grandchildren, Zachary Derese and Holly Isom Daigle; and her great-grandchild, Ava Elizabeth Daigle. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Archie Chambers and Minnie Velma Chambers; husband, Warren Glen Isom; and grandson, Shane Isom.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday January 6, 2015, at 10:00 am at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A gathering of the family and friends will be on Monday, January 5, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Melancon’s Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 2:00 pm at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Milam, Texas.

The family would like to express their appreciation of Mittie’s caregivers. They will always be grateful for the care and love given to their mother.

My Aunt Mittie Bea means more to me than I can say. She was my surrogate Mom. Taught me many private and social lessons. Growing tomatoes, how to behave, take care of yourself and be considerate and kind to your friends and family and anybody you might meet. I miss her and very sorry I can't gather with my cousins pay my respects. dB
