Molly Sue Kavanaugh, born on May 25, 1946, in Port Arthur, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, in Groves, Texas.
Molly retired after 25 years from Gulf/Chevron as a Lab Tech. After retirement, she and her husband Joe found joy in spending quality time with family and the occasional night out dancing and listening to Cajun music with friends.
Molly sue was known for her unfiltered opinions in any situation that may have been brought to her attention. In her younger years, rearing her three children, she dedicated her time to their needs and interests. Countless hours at the ballpark watching her daughter play softball and watching her every move dancing for many years. Molly enjoyed playing bridge with her sister and friends for many years and carried a love for many other table games that always was accompanied by a strategic lesson. Molly was always available for a sit down at her kitchen table with a glass of her famous sweet tea and always a phone call away when the ingredients to those recipes she kept only in her brain were needed.
Molly took pride in her family, celebrating the moments spent with her children and grandchildren as some of her proudest accomplishments. She is survived by her son, Jeff Holstine and his wife Debbie of Magnolia, Texas; her son, Ted Holstine and his wife Karen of Orange, Texas; and her daughter, Karie Landry of Port Arthur, Texas. Grandchildren: Kailey Weeter, Jade Holstine, Emily Horn and Tess Womack. Additionally, Molly was survived by her four-legged fur babies, Ike and Doobie. Molly also had numerous nieces and nephews that absolutely adored her.
Molly is predeceased by her husband, Joe Manceaux; her parents, Frank Kavanaugh and Thelma Saylor; her grandsons, Waylon Reed Paul and Dustin Collier; her sister, Patricia Hicks; her son-in-law, Joey Landry; her nephew, Buddy Hicks; and her precious dogs, Evie and Gus.
Molly Sue Kavanaugh will be remembered for her unwavering love, her infectious joy, and her dedication to family. Her spirit continues to resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family will always remember the selfless mission of her daughter-in-law, Karen Holstine, for providing peace for the family, as she was a constant companion and caregiver to Molly. The family will be eternally grateful for her love and kindness.
