He was a son, a brother, a priest, a friend, a family historian, a storyteller, a person who got involved. He enjoyed history, watching the History Channel on television and gathering information about World War I and World War II. He also spent time out in his yard working with his flowers. In a newspaper article in 1988 a young Father Don talked about his answer to God's call to becoming a priest. In it he said he was asked, "Father, how long did it take you to become a priest?" His answer, "When I die, you will know how long it took." Later in the article he said, "Everything that I said, did, or thought from my earliest years was in preparation for ordination. God so willed it. I simply agreed to what I thought was His desire for me when I entered the seminary." After ordination, Father Golasinski first served at Resurrection Parish, Houston, which included the area of the Port of Houston. He also served as assistant at St. Mary, Port Arthur, St. Charles Borromeo, Nederland, and Immaculate Conception, Liberty. His first pastorate was Sacred Heart, Nacogdoches. Golasinski held several diocesan positions including chaplain for the Port Arthur Serra Club, moderator for the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, priest moderator at Msgr. Kelly Catholic High School and served on the presbyteral council and as an episcopal vicar. So sorry for the loss of Msgr. Don. He brought joy and laughter to many people for many years. I remember him walking the halls at the CYO convention with Fr. Pat O'Connell all night long so the adults could sleep. May his soul be at peace.

Fr. Don was always such a fun part of our family growing up - all the visits to the beach,New Orleans and Tyler -- blasting us out of bed with "Camelot" and all our fire chaplain announcements over his PA system. Thanks to him, I learned a lot of our family history. What a memory! As jovial as he was, he was a very serious priest. He married us and buried us and we will love him always. There is a special place for him in heaven and in my heart forever. I will surely miss him.

Some 54 years ago this young Priest stood as my Godfather. Although I could not thank him then, I am thanking him now. We will miss you greatly Donny Boy, you have touched our lives in many ways and always came to our aid whenever we called without fail. Thanks for always being there, I am a better man for having known and loved you.

As mentioned by my brother (Bob Doyle JR) and sister (Marilyn Doyle Russell), we grew up knowing and loving our 2nd cousin through lots of good times and some bad ... and we knew we could always count on him! His "Aunt Annie" (as he called her), our grandmother, nicknamed him "Donny Boy" and with that name comes many treasured memories for the Doyle Family. We are blessed to have had him in our lives. He taught us to live life to the fullest and that he did! Though we will miss him terribly, he will be in our hearts forever. Thanks for being YOU, "Donny Boy" ~ We'll love you always!

I thank God for having known Fr. Don. I knew him from his days at St. Mary Church in Port Arthur during the 80's and serving with him as a brother priest in the Diocese of Beaumont. Fr. Don possessed a wealth of information and stories about the clergy and the community of Southeast Texas. I pray that God will give His servant, Fr. Don, eternal rest and that the spirit of consolation fall upon the parish community of Immaculate Conception Church in Groves, where Fr. Don had been pastor since 1990. Rest in peace Fr. Don and thank you for your priestly service.
