Mrs. Zelma Castille Riviere

Zelma Castille Riviere, 88, of Groves, Texas passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Immaculate Conception – St. Peter the Apostle Parish Catholic Church in Groves. Officiating will be Reverend J.C. Coon of Immaculate Conception – St. Peter the Apostle Parish Catholic Church in Groves. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with a rosary service to begin at 6:00 p.m.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas on November 10, 1933, she was the daughter of Helen Periou Castille and Easton Castille. Zelma was a lifelong area resident. She was an active member and worked as a secretary at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Zelma was a devoted wife, mother and ma-ma. She loved to travel with her family including camping and going on cruises. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching the PNG Indians, Aggies, Cowboys, Astros, Rockets and Texans.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Paul Riviere Jr. and brothers, Donald Castille and Craig Castille.

Zelma is survived by her son, Mickey Riviere and wife Effi of Springbranch; daughters, Karen English of Groves and Brenda Maldonado and husband Nick of Beaumont; six grandchildren, Aimee Daigle, Adam English, Austin English, Shellie Stanley, Melissa Kelly and Megan Maldonado; six great-grandchildren, Avery Daigle, Parker Stanley, James Stanley, Colin Stanley, Patrick Kelly and Taje Brandenburg; one great-great grandchild, Talia Brandenburg; sister, Lucille Dufour and husband James of Groves; and brothers, James Castille and wife Bonnie of Cypress and Danny Castille and wife Pattie of Crystal Beach.

Serving as pallbearers will be James Castille, Danny Castille, Dickie Lasseigne, Nick Maldonado, Adam English and Austin English. Honorary pallbearers are James Dufour and Glen Thibodeaux.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to Immaculate Conception – St. Peter the Apostle Parish Catholic Church in Groves or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

The family would like to thank Susan Wood and Marla King with Compassion Hospice for the wonderful care they provided their mother during this difficult time.
