Murphy Robert, 91, of Groves passed away February 13, 2015 at St. Mary Hospital. He was born in Rayne, LA on November 27, 1923 to John Robert and Rita Thibodeaux Robert. Murphy came to Port Arthur in 1946. He worked as a chauffeur for the Nuns at St. Mary Hospital in the early 1950's. He also worked for Judice's, Cho's Superette, Blackies, Alfords, Franks, King Saver, and LaBoves Hunting Lodge. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, an auxiliary organization of American Legion Post 7. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend J. C. Coon officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Murphy was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Burnett Robert, his parents, 9 brothers, and 2 sisters. Survivors include his son, Don Roberts and wife, Debbie of Port Arthur, daughters, Connie Walters and husband, Robert of Port Arthur, Cindy Hasty and husband, Mike of Kansas City, KS, Joyce Brugmann of Port Arthur, and Gloria Frederick of Groves, 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, brothers, Vernice Robert of Port Arthur, Wilton Robert of Toldeo Bend, and Wilbert Robert of Carencro, LA, and sister, Brenda Boutte of Virginia.
