Myrtle Mae Smith

Myrtle Mae Smith, 105, of Beaumont, Texas passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Gulf Health Care Center in Port Arthur, Texas. She was born in Anacoco, Louisiana on December 24, 1907 to the late William J. and Nancy Malinda Langton Tilley.

Funeral services will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Beach Grove Methodist Cemetery in Anacoco, Louisiana at 2:00 p.m.

Myrtle is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Billy Self; and her daughters, Leatrice Stephens, Anita Hester, and Maisie Lee. She is survived by her sons, Douglas “Salty” Smith and wife, Mary Kay of Nederland and Kenneth B. Self and wife, Carol of Salem, New Hampshire; nieces, Suzie Munz of Beaumont, Nancy Midkiff of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Barbara Schwartz of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Judy Drzewieski of Michigan City, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great- grandchildren; and 2 great-great-great grandchildren.
