Najat "Nora" Moujaes, 75, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. "Nora" was born January 18, 1939 in Shweir, Lebanon to Elias N. Matar and Yaacoub-Moujaes Matar. She was a resident of Port Arthur for 30 years and was employed as a retail manager for Chas S. Nacol Jewelry. Nora was a member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church and Ladies of St. Michael "Altar Society". "Nora" Najat Matar Moujaes was a loving wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, grandmother, and an ingenuous poet/writer who embodied through her writings and her essence the true meaning of love, dignity, tenderness, kindness, and thoughtfulness. She embraced life and its adventures with an open heart and true wisdom while facing all challenges with her strong Christian unwavering faith. She was an active community contributor and a devout member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church, Beaumont, Texas. She immigrated to Texas thirty years ago from Shweir, Lebanon and considered Port Arthur her home. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and community and her beautiful, creative and unwavering spirit will live on forever. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Najib Elias Matar. Survivors include her husband, Salim Gerges Moujaes of Port Arthur, TX; two daughters, Soulaima Houcheime and Ghada Mapar both of San Jose, CA; one son, Sami Moujaes of Richland, WA; three brothers, Nabil Elias Matar of Groves, TX, Habeeb M. Nacol of Beaumont, TX and George Elias Matar of League City, TX; six grandchildren, Maya Houcheime, Mona Houcheime, William Houcheime, Madeleine Moujaes, Zachary Moujaes, and Elissa Mapar. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014 from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with a Trisagion Service to be conducted at 7:00 p.m. at St. Michael Orthodox Church in Beaumont, Texas. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at St. Michael Orthodox Church with Father Michael Pavez officiating. Interment will be at St. Michael Cemetery, Beaumont, Texas, and a Mercy Meal will immediately follow at St. Michael Orthodox Church Hall, 690 North 15th Street, Beaumont, TX 77702. Pallbearers will be William Houcheime, Zachary Moujaes, Elie Matar, Ziad Matar, Shane Cowart, David Nacol, Michael Matar, Matthew Taylor, and Nicholas Matar.
