Nan B. Gregg, 67, of Port Neches passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. She was born October 7, 1950 in Leesville, Louisiana to the late Hartford and Lillian Bass. Nan was retired with 27 years of service as office manager at the Texas Employment Commission. She was a faithful volunteer to many organizations. To name a few, she was president of the Port Neches Groves Parent Teachers Association for many years, and was a very active employee of the Port Neches Chamber of Commerce, where she worked endless hours at the Port Neches Riverfest. She was also named Port Neches Mother of the Year in 2006.
Nan is survived by her sons, Joshua Lee Gregg of Port Neches and Jeremy Christopher Gregg of New York; her sisters, Patricia Ellender and her husband Tommy of West Lake, Louisiana and her twin sister, Ann Butaud and her husband Jimbo of Fannett; her brother Michael Gail Bass and his wife Suzanna of Beaumont, and her grandson, Kaelan Gregg of Port Neches. Also surviving Nan are numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale “Bear” Gregg, and her brothers, Hartford “Pete” Bass and Ronnie Bass.
A gathering of the family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, September 25, 2018 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday September 26, 2018 at the funeral home with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Nan Gregg Benefit Fund set up at the Neches Federal Credit Union in Port Neches.
