Nancy "Nanny" Carpenter, 73, of Port Neches, Texas died Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. Nancy was born April 6, 1939 in Savannah, Ohio to Glenn Gray and Florence Martin Gray. She was a homemaker and a resident of Port Neches for 42 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Port Neches. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Port Neches with Dr. David Mahfouz officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Levi Gray. Surviving relatives include her husband, Lawrence Eugene Carpenter of Port Neches, Texas; daughter, Cheryl Schroeder and husband Roger of Brenham, Texas; sons, Derwood Carpenter of Port Neches, Texas; David Carpenter and wife Heather of Spurger, Texas; Chris Carpenter of Central Gardens, Texas; sisters, Marybell Gray of Ashland, Ohio; Verla Roach of Austin, Texas; brother, Glenn Gray of Savannah, Ohio; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
