Nancy Duke Lee

      Nancy Lee, 79, of Groves, Texas passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Oak Grove Nursing Home. Nancy was born on October 1, 1944 in Port Arthur, Texas to Glen and Genevieve Duke.

      Nancy was devoted to her family, God and her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed gardening and spending every October in Destin, Florida.  Nancy loved birds and the beach but hated the water.

      Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Glen Alton Duke and Genevieve (Degeyter) Talbert; brother, Lawrence Duke; and her soulmate, Gaines Allen Lee.

      Those left to cherish Nancy’s memory include her daughter, Brenda Slagle and husband Michael of Groves, TX; step-son, Robert Lee and wife Joan of Niceville, FL; grandchildren, Brandon Hammock of Groves, TX, Chris Lee and wife Amanda of Niceville, FL; Cheree Shepardson and husband Kenneth of Niceville, FL; Kyle Slagle of Groves, TX; Jenna Remme and husband Rhett of Niceville, FL; Rachel Lee of Tallahassee, FL; great grandchildren, Leo, Kamden, Monty, Thomas, Rosemary, Maggie, Reid, Jensen; sisters, Geraldine “Geri” Thames and husband Frank of Groves, TX; Darlene Dawson and husband Kyle of Cushing, TX; and a host of nieces and nephews.

      The family would like to give special thanks to their extended family at Oak Grove Nursing Home for the love and care they provided Ms. Nancy for the last three years of her life.

      In lieu of flowers the family request Memorial Contributions in honor of Nancy Duke Lee to be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131 or to: www.parkinson.org.

      The family of Ms. Nancy Lee will have a Gathering on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Melancon Levingston in Nederland. Cremation services are under the direction of Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

Working in the office next to you, I was privileged to hear how sweet and patient you where to her when she made her daily call. You took such good care of her, and are a wonderful daughter.
