Nicki Lou Shepherd

Nicki Lou Shepherd of Port Arthur, Texas passed away at Golden Years Assisted Living Facility on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, after 82 years of life. Her battle with Dementia among other medical issues in recent years showed her true courage in facing life’s challenges head on. Despite it all, Nicki held on as long as she could.

If you knew Nicki, you know she loved family. She was preceded in death by her husband John Shepherd; Her parents Roy & Helen King and one of her children David Reagan. Her family finds peace thinking about the sweet reunion they are all having now.  Nicki is survived by her daughter, Tegan VonBerg, and her husband, Brendan VonBerg; her granddaughters Evelynn and Palmer VonBerg; her sons Steve, Jeffery, Todd, and Raven Regan; her sisters, Jan Carter and Helen King. Her family knows she is now watching over them and that someday they will all be reunited once again.

Some of Nicki’s family's fondest memories of her include: the sharing of recipes, handmade desserts for all special occasions, her co-ed volleyball days, her obsession with coffee and forgetting it in the microwave, her warm smile, her natural mothering and nurturing of everyone, the way you could talk to her about anything and especially the heart and selflessness she always showed in spite of hard times. There is no doubt that Nicki was greatly loved and will be missed by so many.

A celebration of life will be held at 11am on November 23rd, 2024 at the Wesley Christian Life Center, 3515 Helena Ave Nederland TX 77627. All are welcome to attend to celebrate her life and express condolences to Nicki’s family.

I recall the first time meeting Nicki, John , and Tegan when they 1st came to visit Wesley. We welcomed them with open arms as we do for anyone. They immediately started getting very involved and soon became members. When we had our lunches at church, Nicki would bring her famous and the best ever banana pudding. I loved how she added pineapple as her very own touch. She was a great mom to Tegan and just a great person. She will be missed.
