Nida L. Garrett, 84, of Port Neches, Texas died Sunday, October 4, 2015 in Houston, Texas. Nida was born June 5, 1931 in Port Arthur Texas to Frank and Irene Sheffield. She was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of First United Methodist Church in Port Neches. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Port Neches with Dr. Wesley Welborn officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches. Surviving relatives include her son, David Lee Garrett of Houston, Texas; sisters, Mildred L. Thibodeaux and husband Albert of LaBelle, Texas; Carol Ann Sheffield of West Columbia, Texas; and grandson, Matthew David Garrett of College Station, Texas.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I always enjoyed being with Nida. I am a cousin of Jessie's on Britt's side but always felt Nida was a cousin too. Sorry I could not be at the funeral.

We will miss you Nida! Love and prayers David and Matt! She was the most loving grandmother and I feel blessed that she was part of our life. I pray that I have that much energy for life at her age!
