Nona Smith Bergeron, 97, of Groves, Texas passed away, Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Nona was born October 16, 1920 in Leggett, Texas to Ido Smith and Viola Hall Smith. She was a lifelong resident of Groves and graduated at the age of 16. Nona worked in the Research Lab at Texaco during World War II and was a retired bookkeeper for the Barbers Union. She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, and three brothers. Survivors include her husband Alvin Bergeron of Groves; daughter, Debbie Bergeron of Port Arthur; brother, Raymond Smith of Leggett; nephew, John Derrell Crawford and wife Barbara of Colmesneil; and niece, Lona Jean Topolinski of Colmesneil. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 12 noon, Monday, February 5, 2018 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
