I lived next door to Stinky and Norene (we still call her Ms.Stinky) for a few years in Port Neches. They were both the best neighbors I've ever had. Ms. Stinky was such a positive person and always had a beautiful smile for everyone. I think of her often and just ran across her obituary. I bet she is lighting up Heaven. She was just a beautiful person.

Sitting with Helen and hearing the stories of "running around together." Not sure there were closer couples than Helen and Jay and Lorene and Stinky. Hugs to the family...we just heard the news and have you in our prayers. We are sending our love during this hard time, and smiling that she's with Uncle Wesley. So sorry to hear of Mrs. Nunez's passing. She was as sweet as she was beautiful! I first met her when she was working with Dr. Bertrand. Years later we were neighbors. May she rest in peace. God bless her and her family.

What a joy to have had such a wonderful Aunt Rene throughout the years. As a boy I always looked forward to spending some time in the summer with my Aunt Rene and Uncle Stinky, and there was never a dull moment to be had. I always came away with stories of great times fun to share with family and friends. Still sharing to this day with new and old friends alike any time subjects of family reunion, Cajun -- food, music, dancing; beach trips, fishing, Moon or 42 dominoes come into the conversation. Memories I treasure!

Rene was a peace maker, she loved her family, friends and had great Faith. We all will miss her laughter and kind heart. Some years ago Rene and "Stinky's" home was such a happy place to visit.. Their beach house and home on Lilly St. was always filled with family and friends. Everyone knew there was plenty of gumbo. dirty rice, French potato salad, with all the trimmings. What a wonderful cook she was, learning from her mom (Mamaw) and Mom Nunez, Stinky's mother. She leaves quite a legacy. Now, Laurie and Wade have taken up the same traditions, they do a wonderful job of filling BIG SHOES, but the happy, fun memories of those gone before us are deeply etched. Love and prayers for all the family..you, too, Rita Baby!
