Norma Gene Briggs, 82, of Nederland, Texas formerly of Midland, Texas passed away February 3, 2013 at her home. She was born in Teague, Texas to the late Eugene and Gracie Smith Penick on July 13, 1930. She lived all her life in Midland and retired as a bookkeeper in 1985 from Shell Oil Co. before moving to Nederland in 2008.A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Ellis Funeral Home in Midland. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Resthaven Cemetery in Midland. Funeral arrangements are under the ion of Melancons Funeral Home in Nederland.Norma is preceded in death by her parents husband, Marvin Briggs and son, Tommy Briggs. She is survived by her daughter, Leah Petisca and husband, Robbie of Nederland brother, Maurice Penick of Cedar Park sons, Donald Gene Briggs and wife, Linda of Azle and Marvin Ray Briggs, Jr. of Weber Falls, OK grandchildren, Amberly Petisca of Nederland, Halee Petisca of Nederland, Donald Briggs and wife, Carrie of Azle, Tammy Beeson and husband, Bryan of Fort Worth, Tina Briggs of Lake Worth, and Danny Briggs and wife, Dawn of Bowie sisterinlaw and friend, Arvie Briggs of Midland sisterinlaws, Lucille Jordan and husband, Dee of Midland, Darlene Pruitt and husband, Bill of Midland, Sharlene Owen and husband, J. C. of Odessa, and Mareda Briggs of Midland and brotherinlaws, Wendell Harrison of Graham and Wayne Briggs and wife, Lola of California and numerous nieces and nephews.She loved her family very much. She was a devoted Christian and will truly be missed by all.
