Norma Elsie Penry

Norma Elsie Penry, 89, of Port Neches, Texas passed away August 21, 2022 at Cascades Nursing Home in Port Arthur.

Norma was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 28, 1932 to Julia Kresh Sokol and Thomas Anthony Sokol. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family dearly. Norma was an avid reader and loved flowers. She was a wonderful woman who loved people and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Those left to cherish Norma’s memory are her daughter, Sandra Begnaud and her husband, Rodney of Beaumont; her grandchildren, Jason Begnaud, Mark Irvine, Keith Irvine, Sr., Jeremy Begnaud, and Josh Begnaud; and her great-grandchildren, Keith Irvine, Jr., Ryland Begnaud, Hunter Irvine, Kinsley Irvine, Emory Begnaud, Meadow Irvine, Caroline Irvine, Otto Begnaud, and Oren Begnaud.

Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Julia Sokol; daughter, Carol Irvine; sister, Frances Connor; granddaughter, Jessica Irvine and her husband of sixty-four years, Edgar Penry who passed away on June 9, 2019.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. Funeral services will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. with burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Jason Begnaud, Mark Irvine, Keith Irvine, Sr., Keith Irvine, Jr., Hunter Irvine, Ryland Begnaud, Jeremy Begnaud and Josh Begnaud, and serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Otto Begnaud and Oren Begnaud.
