Norman C. Abshere, 87, of Port Neches, Texas passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur, Texas. Norman was born August 30, 1930 in Liberty, Texas to Clarence Elmer Abshere and Ruby Esther Sanders Abshere. He was a resident of Port Neches for sixty-two years and a retired B.F. Goodrich Maintenance Supervisor with thirty years of service. Norman was a member of First United Methodist Church Port Neches, Port Neches Masonic Lodge #1163, Port Neches Order of the Eastern Star #677, and a US Navy Seabee Veteran. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with Reverend Michael Peschke officiating. Military Graveside Honors to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the funeral home. Norman was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Robbie Lee Abshere, granddaughter, Jessie Porter, and great-granddaughter, Katana Aguilera. Surviving relatives include his daughter, Kaye Porter of Dayton, Texas; son, Norman L. Abshere and wife Darla of Port Neches, Texas; sisters, Margaret Broxson of Seattle, Washington; Pearlie Comeaux and husband Harold of Winnie, Texas; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 277 Port Neches, Texas 77651.
