Norman Lee Shannon, 79, of Groves, Texas passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at his home. He was born February 24, 1939 in Beaumont, Texas to William Rufus Shannon and Lillian Garner Shannon. Norman had lived in Groves for 51 years and was a member of Park Central Church of Christ. He enjoyed the game of golf and was an avid golfer. He was retired from Texaco Research as a Foreman after 33 years of service. Norman proudly served his country in the United States Marines. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Mr. Brian French officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be before the service on Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Norman was preceded in death by his grandson, Tyler Shannon, his parents and brother, W.R. Shannon. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Shannon of Groves, Tx., daughter, Tracey Martin of Groves, TX., three sons, Troy Shannon and wife Billie of Scottsboro, AL., Kelly Shannon of Pearland, TX., and Rusty Shannon and wife Brandy of Groves, TX., ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
