Cookie and I want you to know how saddened we are at the loss of your husband and dad. Growing up in Groves in the late 50's and 60's was a wonderful experience. My early memories are of Normie, Mike and Tommy playing stick ball, football and baseball in the Connor's front yard; in Junior High involvement is sports and triple dating, parties at Connie Kelsey's home and great times with Cindy, the 2 Marilyn's, Carla, Barbara, Ken, Billy, Irvin, Bruce, Denise, Connie, Nina Jo, and so many others... I will always remember the whistle coming from Lincoln Street and the shrill "Norman Ray" when it was time to go home. In High School and College our paths were a little different, but my respect/admiration for Norman as a friend and neighbor never wavered. While we did not often speak over the work years, when we did, our conversations were always centered around what a great life partner he had found in Marva and how proud he was of his children. God Bless you in a special way as you make a difference in the lives of others in the same way as did my friend Norman.

I had barely known this man for a day or two and he was already trying to loan me $50 because he had found out that I was behind on rent. I didnt have a job and he knew ai wouldnt have been able to pay him back. I declined but the gesture itself made an impact and ive never forgotten him since.
