My aunt and uncle lived long, productive, and love filled lives together. My wife, son, and I were fortunate to have seen and visited with them for an afternoon two years ago. They were just as full of life and happiness as they were when my family and I would spend weekends with them at Dam B in the late 1960s. How appropriate God chose to welcome them to heaven together.

I feel so very blessed that my brother, Ronnie and my sister,Sheryl and I went to Nederland a little more than a month ago for a visit, March 21st! Uncle Orvis and Aunt Neida were both very lucid, but clearly had gone downhill health wise since we were there in December 2012. Sheryl and I spent a lot of time with them growing up. I still have e bible Aunt Neida gave me in 1957! Very special memories of both of them. You will both be missed here on earth, Wanda Quinn Vint ( Preston Quinn's daughter)

What a shock to see this today after hearing that Orvis died the day before. Know they are happy in heaven as they were here on earth. A wonderful couple loved by all who knew them. May they rest in peace and may God bless their loved ones. Alnet Scott Bailess.

I have beautiful memories of summer weeks that Dorsey Quinn and I spent with our Aunt Neida and uncle Orvis when we were growing up. Dorsey and I learned how to sing harmony with old fashioned hymns and were given a foundation for a life lived for Christ. I remember lazy summer days at their camp on the bluff at Dam B. They had a big swing that went out over the bluff. We ate fresh caught fish after Uncle Orvis, Uncle Bud and Dad would "run the trout lines". Uncle Orvis had a cleaning station with a sink where he would clean the fish. He would fry the fish and make hush puppies for an amazing outdoor feast. That was always followed by watermelon and hand cranked ice cream...sometimes with fresh peaches! His land was lined with neat rows of growing vegetables and robust fruit trees standing guard all around. He would ride us on his tractor and give us grand tours of his kingdom. When we would visit their home in Nederland, there was always a big evening dinner in the dining room with the best iced tea in the world. Aunt Neida would bake a cake and we would sit around hearing stories about the family in the old days. I remember the smell of his workshop where he loved to make grandmother and grandfather clocks. He made one for each of us kids when we grew up...a grand treasure, indeed! I have a thousand more sweet memories of my dear Aunt and Uncle. I loved them so very much and am so happy to know that they are waiting in heaven. They lived life the way it should be lived...giving in every place they were...contributors to life. And, they died the way people ideally should...full of years, hours apart, being a testimony of God's goodness even now.

I spent allot of time with my Aunt Neida when I was small and still living with my parents. We visit neederland about every other year. Loved going to there house on the bluff over damn B. Not sure what town that was, must be near Neederland because they stayed in that area for years. She was so sweet, and was my mothers older sister. I was so sad when I heard of her passing, but I knew since Orvis died on Sunday she would problem grieve to death, but was suprised it was so soon. Wish I would have visited more!! Will miss her!
