Ophelia Ortiz Ceja, 81, of Beaumont, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. She was born on August 31, 1932 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Jose and Leonora Ortiz. Ophelia was a graduate of Bishop Byrne High School and Lamar State College-Port Arthur. She was a retired secretary and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
A Mass Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Father T.R. Blanco celebrant. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland. A gathering of the family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.
Ms. Ceja is survived by her son, Mario Martinez and his wife, Carolyn of Beaumont; brother, Oscar Ortiz of Beaumont; three grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Roy and Bill Ortiz. She will be missed by her nieces, nephews and many close friends.
