Ora “Nell” Christopher, 94 of Nederland, Texas passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023 in Bridge City, Texas. Nell was born on December 3, 1928 in Woodsboro, Texas to the late, John Delvin Dippel and Sofie Helen Wieting Dippel.

Nell loved her Lord and Savior and was a dedicated and faithful member of First Baptist Church Nederland. She enjoyed singing in the Silver Tones Choir as well as playing the ukulele. She loved to travel and enjoyed seeing the world on many cruises during her travels. She enjoyed spending time working with ceramics, playing forty two and hand & foot with friends, as well as playing volleyball into her late seventies.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Barbara Dell Cowart and

her husband, Gregory of Montgomery, Texas; her sons, Marion Wayne Christopher and his wife, Polly of Nederland, Texas, Wesley Glenn Christopher and his wife, LaNan of Bridge City, Texas; daughter, Rita Kay Parker and her husband, Rory of New Braunfels, Texas; sisters, Doris Helen Blaschke of Woodsboro, Texas and Wanda Lea Hoelscher of Kingsville, Texas; grandchildren, Jason Cowart and his wife, Kelly, Jarred Cowart and his wife, Jami, Melissa Kirchmer and her husband, Chris, Clint Christopher and his wife, Gina, Krista Parker and her husband, Andy, Ryan Parker and his wife, Tiffany, Clayton Christopher and his wife, Michelle, Darren Christopher and his wife, Layne and Darrell Christopher and his wife, Amanda; twenty nine great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren.

Nell is preceded in death by her parents, John Delvin Dippel and Sofie Helen Wieting Dippel, her loving husband of 58 years, Marion Love Christopher; brothers, Murray Dippel, Perry Lee Dippel, Kirven Dale Dippel and John Emil Dippel, and her grandson, Brandon Christopher.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Tuesday evening, August 8, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Nell’s funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church Nederland on Wednesday morning, August 9, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Jason Burden, officiant.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Jason Cowart, Jarred Cowart, Clint Christopher, Clayton Christopher, Darren Christopher, Darrell Christopher and Ryan Parker.
