Ortha Jane Bolton Addison, 103, passed peacefully away at her home in Groves, Texas on Saturday, August 26, 2017. She was born on August 11, 1914, in Anacoco, Louisiana to parents, Prentice and Edna Alford Bolton. Ortha married Rudolph Timothy Addison on November 8, 1930 and they moved to Port Arthur, Texas in 1937. She was employed with the Port Neches Groves Independent School District from 1948 to 1977 and many in town may remember her as the manager of the cafeteria at Woodlawn Jr. High School. She will be missed by her many children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. We will remember her by all the things that brought joy to her life. First and foremost was always her family. She loved traveling and camping with her family. Quilting gave her a great creative outlet and she was a perfectionist when it came to that. Another thing that brought out her creative and perfectionist qualities was her gardening. Many residents of Groves may remember the lady on the corner that worked tirelessly day after day in her yard. She trimmed her edges with a sharpened shovel. No weed eaters allowed! Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Marty Boddie of First United Methodist Church of Groves officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Methodist Cemetery in Anacoco, Louisiana. A visitation for family and friends will be Saturday morning before the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Ortha was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Rudolph Addison; daughter, Beverly Reaves and two sons, Bolton and Nathan Addison. She is survived by three daughters, Elaine McBride of Groves, Julia Fletcher of Jasper, and Tonuia Jackson and husband Fred of Henderson, Nevada, two sisters, Edna Jones of Eugene, Oregon and Delta Rae Hubbard of Seattle, Washington, brother, Buddy Bolton of Hayfork, California, thirteen grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren and nineteen great- great grandchildren; and special friend, Shirley Hunt.
