Oscar Irvin Butler, 88, of Groves, Texas passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur, Texas. Oscar was born September 1, 1925 in Beach Bluff, Tennessee to Walter Elvis Butler and Ida Smith Butler. He was a resident of Jefferson County for 60 years and was a retired self-employed auto sales and service dealer. He was a member of the VFW and Spindletop Optimist Club of Beaumont. He was also a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Ernie Mae Tyler of Groves; three daughters, Regina Smith and husband Don, Pamela Cogar and husband Richard, Angie Hooper and husband Robert all of Houston; one son, Ronnie Butler of Houston; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Military Graveside services will be held at 10:45 a.m., Friday, December 20, 2013 at Houston National Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.
