Otis Lee Ward

Otis Lee Ward, 72, of Groves passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 at his residence in Groves. He was born March 8, 1942 in Newton to the late Fate and Susie Ward.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, with interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A gathering of the family and friends will be from 5 to 8:30 pm Monday at the funeral home.

Otis retired from Lance Inc. with 16 years of service as a route salesman, also a crossing guard at C.O. Wilson in Nederland. Otis and his wife Vianna were very active in the Port Arthur Mardi Gras where they served as King and Queen in 2008. He was also President of the Port Arthur Evening Sertoma, and a member of the Italian Club in Port Arthur.

Otis was preceded in death by his daughter, Lana Lee Ray. He is survived by his wife Vi Ward of Groves; daughters, Lynn Pyle of East Bernard, and Rhonda Ivey of Nederland; son, Otis Craig Ward and his wife Julie Of Nederland; step-daughter Valerie Lacroix; sisters Sadie of Deridder, Louisiana, and Emma Jean Routledge of Vidor; brothers, Guy Ward and his wife Linda of Beaumont, and Pete Ward of Newton; sixteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
