Owen Glidewell was born March 16, 1919 to Joe and Viola Glidewell in Wilson Creek, Missouri. He was a brother to Hester Smith, Ruby Suggs, Jerraldean Davis and Billy Glidewell. He was the last surviving member of his original family. He was preceded in death by his wife Minnie Glidewell after 61 years of marrige. He is survived by son, Myron Glidewell; grandson Scott Glidewell and his wife Tina; great grandsons Marine LCpl Mason Glidewell and Blaze Glidewell. Special mention is also given to his sisters-in-law Nora Weeks and Stella Block. Owen moved to Texas in 1935. In 1941, he met and married Minnie Block after a brief one month courtship. He lived in Port Neches from that date forward. In 1942, Owen joined the U.S. Army, proudly serving with General Douglas McArthur during WWII in New Guinea and the Philippines. He received his Honorable Discharge as Sargent in January 1946. His bravery and service will always be remembered and cherished. Owen was a long standing member the Magnolia Assembly of God Church. Owen was a loving person that will be cherished and severely missed by his family and friends. Many of the homes currently standing in the Golden Triangle area were built by Owen over his many years as a carpenter. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Magnolia Assembly of God Church in Port Neches followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Frank Williams officiating. Burial will be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches, Texas.

Myron, I went to church with you, and all of the Glidewell, Dews, and Block families, at the Assembly of God church in Port Neches. I just saw this on your Dad.
