Pamela "Pam" Ann Brown

1944 ∼ 2017

Pamela “Pam” Ann Hurley Brown, 73, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this earth to join her Heavenly Father on August 29, 2017. Pam was born on February,1944 in Houston, TX to the late James Wiley Hurley and Helen Joyce Ratcliff Hurley. She grew up in Nederland, TX and graduated from Nederland High School in 1962. After high school, she attended Lamar University. She was once married to Charlie Mack Brown of Nederland, TX. Pam never knew her biological father, however in 1971 she began her relationship with her Heavenly Father. She lived her life as a devoted disciple and witness of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, spreading the Good News to all who would listen, in obedience to Him. She was and will always be a beloved mother, grandmother and sister. She always had time to help her family and was always there for her grandchildren, whom she loved with all her precious heart. She was a great friend to her many brothers and sisters in Christ, whom she loved dearly and who loved her back with equal measure. One of her favorite sayings to the loved ones in her life was, “I love you always and forever, no matter what”. It was this unconditional love of Jesus, her family, friends and her unyielding desire to do the work of her Father, that best defines her life here on this earth. She was a faithful prayer warrior who was known to pray constantly and late into the night for her family and for others in need. Her prayers will most certainly be missed by many. She was also known to sing with her beautiful voice, her favorite songs of worship as she went about her daily chores and activities around her house. One of her favorite songs was “Take the Shackles Off of My Feet so I can Dance”. She had an amazing faith and it is that faith that comforts us in this time of her loss. She is gone way too soon from this earth, but her legacy of faith, hope, and love remains and lives on. No doubt, Heaven saw fit to grant her an early move – in date into her new home and into the abundant life eternal. Most assuredly, she has already satisfied the goal of her life: Meeting her Heavenly Father, looking into His eyes, seeing His outstretched arms and hearing Him say to her “Welcome home my beautiful, faithful daughter. Come, see the place that I have prepared for you since the beginning of time.”

Pam is survived by her sons, Darren Brown and wife, Genia of Port Neches, TX, Don Brown and wife, Melynda of Port Neches, TX and James “Dusty” Brown and wife, Rachelle of DeRidder, LA; brother, Charles Gary Hurley and wife, Beth of Robertsdale, AL; grandchildren, Ashli Brown-Stutes, Jared Brown, Cory Brown, Kristen Brown-Lewis, Jordan Brown, Mackinley Brown and Hunter Brown; great-grandchildren, Zander Brown, Kinli, Brown, Kalli Brown, Jude Brown and many friends, brothers and sisters in Christ who knew her as “Sister Pam”. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandmother, Ilnora “Nora” Ratcliff

I will miss my dear friend. She always had an encouraging word. Her faith in God was steadfast. This scripture comes to mind when I think of her. 2 Timothy 4, 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Through all her suffering she had a precious Spirit and never lost her faith in God. How blessed I was to have her as a friend.

I love and miss you Sister Pam, for the past 31 years you have been part of our family. You were always there for me and my children. They looked to you as a maw maw to them, you always had something special in your purse for all of your "grand children", my grandchildren! I loved our visits over doing your hair and all the times that you came to me to agree in prayer. We touched God and shouted together knowing the answers were on their way. I can see you now dancing around the throne in glory. Worshipping Jesus with new legs and a new body. Though I'm not able to be there today I have all of my memories of you stored in my heart to think on and reminisce for the years to come. I can still here your precious voice in my mind saying GOD's working it out, I may not see it here on earth but I believe it's going to happen!! I know you're resting in peace for you we're a good and faithful servant, I witnessed it with my eyes!!!
