Pat Briggs, a cherished educator and devoted member of her community, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Born on June 24, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas, Pat dedicated over 40 years of her life to teaching and administration at Port Neches Groves High School, where she left an indelible mark on countless students and faculty alike. Her commitment to education was underscored by her pursuit of excellence, as exemplified by her attainment of a Master’s Degree.

Pat's passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom, as she became a beloved mentor and leader, guiding her students through their formative years with wisdom and compassion. She was deeply admired and respected for her unwavering dedication to her profession and her ability to inspire those around her.

A true matriarch of her family, Pat is survived by her beloved son, Chad Briggs of Los Angeles, and her two daughters, Colleen and Lisa Briggs, both of Austin. She also leaves behind her son-in-law, Matthew Forshaw of Austin, who embraced her like a mother. Pat is lovingly remembered by her siblings, including her brother Gregory Salyers and his wife Pat Nover of San Antonio; her brother David Salyers and his wife Marsha of Atlanta, Georgia; and her sister Barbara Conner and her husband Chris of Houston, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Linda Briggs of Beaumont.   In addition, Pat is survived by her cherished nieces Shara, Lindsay, and Kaylee, as well as her nephews Lee, Joe, Travis, Austin, and Tate, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 50 years, Bob Briggs, whose absence has left an unfillable void in the lives of all who knew them. Also mourned are her parents, Allen and Mary Ann Salyers, and her sister, Janet Salyers. As a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Port Neches and an active member of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Pat was known for her warm spirit and her commitment to service, touching the lives of many with her kindness.
