Patricia Lee Garrison Bowling

December 10, 1935 — February 9, 2020

Patricia Lee Garrison Bowling Patricia "Patty" Bowling, 84, of Fannett and formerly Groves, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020. She was born in Missouri, December 10, 1935 to Archie Lee Garrison and Mildred Summers Garrison. She grew up in Port Arthur, Texas alongside her beloved younger brother William "Bill" Garrison. Bill will miss his Sis. Patricia graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and found great joy marching as a Hussar. Patricia returned to her Midwest roots and attended Columbia College where she received an Associate in Arts degree and where she met Robert "Bob" Bowling who was attending Missouri State University in Columbia. Patty then transferred to Kansas State University where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics. Patty married Bob and together they raised four children. Growing from our Mom to our Grammy, Patty completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Lamar University. She owned and operated Preferred Home Health. Patty consistently challenged herself, her children & grandchildren to reach their full God-given potential and to rely on and praise God. To Patty her family was her heart. She accompanied her children and grandchildren on many family vacations. Patty was preceded in death by Bob and her best friend and "sister", Carolyn Bailey and her husband David. These four great friends raised their children together, traveled to many countries together & played cards together practically every Saturday night for over 30 years. Patty was "Aunt Patty" to the Bailey girls, Julie Pat, Gay, Julie & Laura. Patty stayed close to classmates from TJ, usually meeting monthly for lunch. Patty was a member of First Christian Church, Port Arthur and loved her church and church family. She took pride in her Victorian home she built in Fannett on the family farm. She loved to have the grandchildren run through the house for jelly beans and her famous Grammy Banana Muffins. We will miss her wisdom, wit, encouragement, and hugs; her Christmas poems, Valentines, Halloween & Birthday cards with a sweet message signed with love and always a little something for your pocket that was not to be spent on drugs, alcohol, fast women/men or cigarettes. The greatest joy and love of her life was her family. She is survived by her four children and their families: Deborah Verret, of Fannett; Robert Bowling and his wife Lisa, of Boerne; Richard Bowling and his wife Mary Beth, of Beaumont; and Rebecca Healey and her husband Sean, of Beaumont. Pattys greatest blessings were her eleven grandchildren: Kyle Verret (Eleanor), Allison Verret Wright (Landon), Brooke Bowling Hall, Kaitlyn Verret Goss (Justin), Blaire Bowling Hickman (Chris), Bailey Bowling Wehe (Kevin), Reagan Healey, Garrison Bowling, Ryan Healey, Robert Greg Bowling, and Grant Healey. Her precious thirteen great-grandchildren brought sunshine into her life: Jaxson Wright, Luke Hall, Joseph Verret, Jacob Goss, Emma Hall, Mackenzie Wright, Alice Verret, Preston Hickman, Blake Goss, Ellen Hickman, Brooklyn Wehe, Bryson Wehe, and expecting Deborah Verret. Patty donated her body to the Willed Body Program at the University of Texas Health Science Center. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at First Christian Church of Port Arthur, Saturday, February 29 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Boy Scouts of America, Sam Houston Area Council Endowment Fund, in honor of Patricia Bowling, 2225 N Loop West, Houston, TX 77008, or the charity of your choice.
