Patricia Wheless Loidold

Patricia Wheless Loidold, 94, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Monday, January 6, 2020 at Calder Woods in Beaumont, Texas. Pat was born July 7, 1925 in Port Arthur, Texas to Inman and Ruth Seubold Wheless. Pat was an only child and a daddys girl. She was a member of the Camp Fire Girls and according to her childhood friend was leader among the girls. While her father was mayor of Port Arthur, Pat presented him with his first formal decoration as mayor. It was a badge of the Camp Fire Girls Silver Jubilee year. She liked to tell the story about her horse Dan, that her father bought for her and kept it in the backyard for a while. She rode in the Cavoilcade parade one year and was a contestant for queen of the Cavoilcade. She was a member of the Episcopal Church. Pat graduated from Thomas Jefferson in 1942 and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1949 with a Bachelors Degree of Fine Arts. She spent time in Paris studying design and art. Pat enjoyed art and was especially proud of the portrait she drew of her mother. She left Oklahoma and went to Dallas where she worked in design and returned to Port Arthur where she and Joseph Dryden Loidold were married in 1979, they were married for 25 years. Pat and Joe enjoyed fishing, cooking and spending time at their place in the country. Her blueberry pie was awesome. She loved animals; especially the dogs she and Joe considered their children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Dryden Loidold; sister-in-law, Helen Quebedeaux; and nephew, Joe Quededeaux. Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2019 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas followed by the funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
