Patrick Henry Reeves

1952 ∼ 2023

Patrick H. Reeves, 70, of Groves, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Houston Methodist the Woodlands Hospital surrounded by family.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a service following on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. There will be a Celebration of Life following the service at the Groves KC Hall.

Patrick was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on October 27, 1952. He was the son of Raymond and Gertrude Reeves.

Pat was a 1971 graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School where he was the Indian Spirit alternate during 1970-1971. Pat spent his younger adult years working at Levingston Funeral Home. In 1977 he joined UPS delivering packages to many Groves residents. He quickly became the favorite on his UPS route where he spent most of his time for 32 years. Pat was a lover of most music and a true rock music fan. In the evenings, you could find him sitting on his back porch with his dog, Bullet, jamming to his favorite tunes. Pat spent some of his retirement days helping his good friend, Stan Sansom, deliver Meals on Wheels. He delighted in giving to others. He was a giver, not a taker. He loved to make people smile with his famous chocolate pies and one-of-a-kind chocolate chip cookies. During any conversation with Pat, he was sure to make you laugh. Pat was a family man. His grandchildren were his greatest possessions. He was one proud PaPa! A true ray of sunshine for anyone that met him. Goes without saying, some of Pat’s last words were, “I want everyone to think about Jesus and just be happy!”

Pat is preceded in death by his parents, his nephew Kael Reeves and his grandson Elijah James Taylor.

Pat is survived by his children: Son Michael Reeves and his wife LaRae of Port Neches and daughter Kara Taylor and husband John (JT) of Nederland; His grandchildren: Macie Reeves, Kaiden Reeves, Aniston Reeves, Kinley Buchanan, Isaiah Taylor, and Abigail Taylor; His siblings: Michael Reeves and wife Cyndy of Kirbyville, Kenneth Reeves and wife Debbie of Port Neches, Harold Reeves and wife Fuxia Wang of San Antonio, Cindy del Valle of San Antonio; His Uncle Richard Griffiths, who Pat was very close to; His nieces and nephews: Joshua Reeves, Misti Reeves, Brian Reeves, Brandon Reeves, Brett Reeves, Natasha Castillo, Bridget Sticker and Paige Birdwell.

Mr. Pat, such a sad day today. your service was beautiful. Soooo many people there to celebrate you. Just shows what a wonderful person you were to so many. It still doesn’t feel real that we won’t see you next door. We are still struggling with this. Your son, daughter in law and granddaughter gave Everly a prayer bear which her feel sooooo special. She was even included in the slideshow. Meant so much to us and her!!!. Maybe we can visit bullet sure miss him too. We will be praying for your family and friends I hope you knew how much you meant to us. You were more like family to us than a neighbor/friend. Watching my kids grow up like as if we were your family. You knew more about us than most. Thank you for always being there for us all these years. We will look for signs that you are still with us. Just know you will always be on our mind and we will continue to talk about you to everly and the boys and always remember you. Me and Dane used to talk about when we ever did move to bigger house how it would upset you leaving. You weren’t just a neighbor you were so much more. Today is hard. Lots of love and good memories Rest Easy. You are healed in a better place than we are.

PH. I don’t know where to start. You (and your dad) taught me so much. We had so much fun over the years. Memories of making the drag, fun of the over powered VW, how to properly wash cars and so much more! I’ll never forget you grabbing my shirt so I didn’t fall off the Orange Bridge as we were chopping into a car to rescue a trapped pregnant lady! And last year when my brother passed you popped in to offer some much needed grave side music. Thank you for your time, dedication, and work. As I read other tributes, I realize that you leave this world with a reputation of kindness. Kindness and love are the most valuable of our histories. You will be missed. God bless you and all your descendants.

We moved in next door two years ago and couldn't have asked for a better neighbor. We'd just had a daughter, and he turned in to her first friend. He'd always make sure to play kids music when he hears us outside, and made sure she had a steady supply of the best chocolate chip cookies, and our pooch always got a treat. We didn't know him well, but what we did, has been an honor. I'll miss hearing TAPS, in the evening. I'll play one for you, Mr. Pat.

Patrick Henry Reeves was a great nephew and very close to my heart. He took the time to assist me through a total knee replacement a short time ago. He made our beds, cooked breakfast and washed and folded clothes, nothing was too difficult for him. My children and friends spoke highly of his personable manner when informing them of my progress with kindness and tact, he was the man for the job. I hated for him to leave after three weeks, but he had obligations to meet. He will be sorely missed, God Bless him. Uncle Richard

Mr. Pat!! You were such an amazing neighbor to us since moving to our home for the last 16 years.. You were always jamming out to your music outside , just such a happy guy always making conversation to Evryone you came across. Always lending a helping hand to everyone that crossed your path. You always bought from our kids fundraisers always willing to help out for the kids. Gave us gifts as each child was born and birthdays. You were like another grandpa to our kids. Especially Everly. She is definitely heartbroken she said she wanted you back and said what are we going to do without Mr Pat? You made her your special chocolate cookies weekly. You would play catch with my boys when they would play outside. Anytime something was happening in the neighborhood Mr Pat knew what was going on and looked out for all the neighbors. Always willing to lend a helping hand. Helped me put the toddler seat on my bike when everly was little so she could ride on the back. Anytime we needed help you were there. We sure are going to miss seeing you pull up with Bullet to talk while the kids were in the driveway. Anytime we were decorating the porch for holidays you came to chat. Everytime we are home we will be thinking of you and how different things are going to be without you there. Just know you were such a very special part of the Hollier family! My brother. The younger of two brothers and the older of another brother and sister. Lived life his way and loved many along the way. I will miss him taunting me and will be waiting for the middle of the night “head bonk” he said he would give me after death. :smirk: His witty, sarcastic humor remained intact until the end. I loved him in spite of everything and he loved me. I will miss him, but now we need to celebrate him.
