Patsy Ruth Lyon 84, of Groves died Saturday September 1, 2012 at her residence. Patsy was born on February 5, 1928 in Westlake Louisiana to John Soares and Ruby Landry Soares. She was a resident of Groves for 57 years and a member of the Groves First United Methodist Church also a member of the United Methodist Women Organization. Patsy was a retired Salesperson with Long's Home Furniture Company. Patsy was preceded in death by her husband John Lyon and sister Betty Jones. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 5, 2012 at 10:00 am at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Beverly Tune officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery in Nederland. A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. She is survived by her daughter Tracy Lyon Hodge and husband Dennis of Port Neches, sons Ted Lyon and wife Christina of Nederland, Craig Lyon of Groves, Charles Lyon of Nederland and Glenn Lyon of Nederland, sisters Joy Maddox of Westlake, Louisiana, Ruby Tyson of Port Arthur, Joan Romero of Starks Louisiana and Joyce Smith of Vidor, brother Johnny Soares of Groves, grandchildren Matthew Lyon, Ryan Thibodeaux, Lauren Lyon, Deanna Threadgill and husband Wesley, Khristine Lyon, Samantha Hodge and Jude Lyon and Leah Wheeler, great grandchildren Corey Threadgill and Gillian Thibodeaux.The family would like to express a special thanks to Patsy's caregiver and friend Anita LeBlanc. I am sorry for your loss. I met your Mother one time; I am Anita's cousin, what a special person she is. She was an inspiration to many, even myself after just a one time meeting. I was impressed with her strength and her love for her family. My sincere condolences for your family.
