Paul Edward Hassell, 80, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at his residence. He was born on September 16, 1933 in Denison, Texas to the late Earl Hassell and Jeanne LaFontaine Hassell. Paul retired as a Pharmacist and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Arthur.

Paul is survived by his sons, Roger Hassell and wife, Kathryn of Evergreen, CO and Paul David Hassell and wife, Mamta Jayavardhan of Austin, TX; and three grandchildren, Matthew Hassell, Daniel Hassell, and Lucas Hassell. He is preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Cynthia Peavey Hassell.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Arthur on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Timothy Dinger officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.

Paul was an important part of my life when I worked with him in high school at Nederland Pharmacy. After I became a pharmacist, we worked together at Eckerd's for years. Paul was a good friend and had a great influence on my life for many years. I still remember how he used to tap his pen on his thumb as he was thinking... His influence lives on through the lives of those who were taught by him and I am one of those who appreciated him every day.
