Paul "Py" Young

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul "Py" Young, who departed this life on July 27, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on August 14, 1949 in Port Arthur, Texas, Paul lived a life filled with warmth, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to his loved ones and passions.

Paul was a man of immense personality, known for his humor and he never met a stranger. He was a dedicated father and grandfather, finding joy in coaching his children and grandchildren. A true sports enthusiast, Paul was very competitive and a devoted fan of the Astros and the Port Neches-Groves Indians. He loved golfing, spending time at the lake, and placing a bet wherever he could. He cherished going out dancing with his beloved wife. Paul was a proud graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School and McNeese University. He was a proud Vietnam Army Veteran earning two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts. His passion for sports extended to coaching, where he guided young athletes for three years in Vidor and Bishop Byrne.

Paul leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife of 56 years, Debbie Young of Groves. He is also survived by his son, Damon Young, Robin Humphries, Byron and Morgan; his daughter, Alysia Jackson and her husband, Shane. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Victoria Scales and her husband, Austin, and Tyler Jackson, as well as his great-grandchild, Rylee Ann Scales, who is on the way. He is also survived by his dear brothers, Jim Young and his wife, Sammie, and Bob Young and his wife, Patti.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Ann Elizabeth Young, and his siblings, Sharon Young, Latretta Jo Walker, and Joe Young. His vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Paul's memory will be celebrated with a gathering of friends and family to be held on Friday, July 31, 2026 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 5601 39th Street, Groves, Texas, 77619.

Ms. Debbie, I was soo sorry to hear of Paul's passing, we played on the same football team at PNG, we were drafted same day, went to Vietnam together, and reported to Fort Benning the same day, you may remember me now, I spent some time with you'll while station there. Paul was a great friend and a very good man, I know he will be missed by all. I have great memories of him and his beautiful smile, will pray for swift and peacful mouning for you and family. Debbie, I am so sorry to hear of Paul’s passing. He was one of my favorite coaches of all time and a true friend later in my life. I will always cherish the times spent with him as a coach and later as a friend. I truly loved him and will have a special place in my heart for him. God Bless you and your family
