Peggy Ann Thames, 86, of Beaumont, Texas passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.
Peggy was born on September 13, 1936, in Marion, Arkansas to Georgetta McClusky Nolen and Orion Nolen. She had lived in Port Neches for fifty-nine years before moving to Beaumont. Peggy was a member of Magnolia Assembly of God in Port Neches and was a very active member in the church and was considered the “Prayer Warrior” for the church. She loved her church and did everything she could to help all the people who were members. Peggy enjoyed going camping and loved to cook and was known throughout the family and to her friends and church members as the “Hostess with the Mostess”. She enjoyed entertaining and making people happy. Peggy was known for many things but mostly she was the most wonderful friend, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She did everything for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and because of that, they loved her dearly and will miss her with all their hearts.
Peggy is survived by her children, Vickie Thames and Pam Picou both of Beaumont; grandchildren, Jeremy Sport and his wife Angela, Josh Sport; great grandchildren, Isaiah Sport, Asher Sport, Bella Castillo, Ava Castillo and Luke Castillo; brothers, Buddy Nolen and his wife Vera, Kenneth Nolen and his wife Sheila; sister, Hazel Odom and her husband Craig; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Orion and Georgetta Nolen; and her husband of fifty-five years, Delbert Thames who passed away on September 13, 2011.
A visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Magnolia Assembly of God Church located at 2215 Nall St, Port Neches, TX 77651 with a Funeral Service to be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Jeremy Sport, Isaiah Sport, Asher Sport, Brian Nolen, Karson LeBier, Josh Sport and Vic Aponte.
