Peggy Joyce Wilson, 78 of Beaumont, Texas passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. Peggy was born on September 25, 1943 in Griffithville, Arkansas to the late Willie Whaley and Helen Rice Whaley.
Peggy graduated from Grubbs High School in 1961. After high school, she served her country proudly in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967. After the service, Peggy attended Port Arthur College where she graduated in August 1975. Shortly after graduating, Peggy hired on with BF Goodrich, more recently known as Ameripol Synpol, where she retired after 25 years of service as a Logistics Manager. She regularly attended One City Church, formerly known as Cathedral in the Pines, and was a faithful volunteer at Some Other Place in Beaumont, Texas. Peggy was a loving mother and adoring grandmother, affectionately known as Mimi. Nothing made her prouder than her family. The last 21 years of her life centered on her grandchildren and their activities. She was also very fond of her grand-dogs, Lucy, Max and Layla. Peggy will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish Peggy’s memory are her son, Van Wilson and his wife, Casey of Houston; her daughter, Sherry Walton and her husband, Critt, Jr. of Sugar Land; her grandchildren, Emma Wilson, Jack Wilson, Trace Walton, Lane Walton; and her sister, Janis Lancaster of Idabel, Oklahoma. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry Whaley.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
A funeral service for Peggy will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. Following the funeral, a graveside service will be held at Midway Community Cemetery in Livingston, Texas and will begin at 2:00 p.m.
