A Life Remembered

Obituary

Penny Kay Moore Ortego

Penny Kay Moore Ortego, 57, of Nederland, Texas went home to be with the Lord on October 6, 2021. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on November 18, 1963 to the late Jack B. Moore and Joan Borel Moore. Penny loved crafts of all kinds, making wreaths, jewelry, doll houses with doll furniture, and sewing. Penny loved her 7 Yorkies where she had made each one a dog house of their own, made beds and their very own blanket, and would tuck them in at night. Penny was an excellent homemaker, a loving wife, and mother. She would spoil her family and would always put others first. All that knew Penny will truly miss her.

Those left to cherish Penny’s memory are her husband of 25 years, Joe Ortego of Nederland; her children, Candice Nicole Sullinger, Austin Thomas Smith, Candice Charmaine Ortego Potter and her husband Zack, and Payton Taft Ortego; her granddaughter, Christine Potter; and her brother, Mark Moore. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandson Issac Potter.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Monday, October 11. 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., Pastor Dustin Guidry officiant. I lived across the street and grew up with Penny, and I've known her for over 50 years. I just can't believe she is gone! I've been Praying for her to Recover from this Illness, but God needed Her to go Home with Him. My Heart goes out to Joe, and I pray that He can find Comfort without Her. RIP Sweet Penny, until we meet again in Heaven. Nita Barras McCarty
