Perryman Glenn McFarland

Perryman Glenn McFarland, known affectionately as "Mac," was born on June 21, 1930, in Hemphill, Texas. He departed this life on October 2, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and accomplishment.

Mac's professional journey included notable tenure with Pure Oil and Union Oil, culminating in his retirement from Unical where he served diligently as a purchasing agent. His industrious spirit and commitment to excellence were evident throughout his career.

An individual of profound character, Mac was proud to be a member of the First Baptist Church of Port Acres, contributing his time and effort to the community. One of his proudest accomplishments was celebrating 42 years of sobriety with the Mid-County AA group, a testament to his resilience and commitment to self-improvement.

Mac held a deep passion for fishing, which was a significant part of his life. As the President of the Port Arthur Bass Club for 22 years, he fostered camaraderie and friendship among fellow fishing enthusiasts. It was well known that he would stay at camp until his wife, Nola, came to fetch him "because the icebox wasn't full of fish yet," a delightful reflection of his commitment to both his passion and his loved ones.

His dedication extended beyond his professional life, for he served honorably in the Army, receiving accolades including the Army of Occupation medal (Japan), the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Star, and the United Nations Service Medal.

Mac is survived by his cherished family, including his sons, Terry McFarland and his wife, Kathy of Bridge City, and Mike McFarland and his wife, Bali of Port Acres. He is also lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jana Neel of Port Arthur, his grandchildren: Michelle Cauley, Nikki Thibodeaux, Brent McFarland, Brandy Holt, Josh McFarland, Mellissa McFarland, and Tonya Vela, as well as twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Nola McFarland, their son, Tim McFarland, his son-in-law, Gerald "Boo Boo" Neel, and eleven siblings, who have all contributed to the fabric of his remarkable life.

As we reflect upon the life of Perryman Glenn McFarland, we celebrate a man whose spirit will be forever cherished by those he loved and who loved him. His legacy is one of hard work, unwavering love for family, and a passion for life that touched the hearts of many.

Uncle Perryman and Aunt Nola always treated me like a fourth son and I have many fond memories of times we spent fishing and camping at West Log Jam on Dam B (B. A . Steinhagen Lake).

Recalling the good times we had growing up in Port Acres with Perryman as church friends and family members Nola, Dorothy, Archie, Deloris and other family members. Those were good memories of “old” friends.

Perryman was a great guy & friend. He & I sat together and shot the breeze at the Pure Oil/Unocal/Chevron retirees luncheons. Fair Winds and Following Seas, Sir. May you Rest In Peace.

He just can’t be replaced. I don’t think you could find another like him. He truly was one of a kind and dearly loved by family and friends. He called a week or so to wish my mom (Aunt Eva) a Happy Birthday. He had all family birthdays and he or Aunt Nola would call and wish a Happy Birthday to that special Child of God on their Birthday. What a simple thing that meant so much to loved ones. We miss you already and blessed to have known and loved you. He knew mom’s birthday was Oct 14th but I think he wanted to call her before he went to his heavenly home. Just a guess on my part but that would be so him I think. Peace Joy Love. ❤️

Uncle Perryman & Archie, my dad married sisters; Nola & Dorothy. In fact we were all so close that my Dad performed my marriage ceremony & Uncle Perryman walked me down the aisle. He could fix anything, grow the best garden & most of all he loved all of us! I have many childhood memories of all of us camping & fishing. I love you Uncle Perryman !
