Randy Gail Allen

1957 ∼ 2021

Randy Gail Allen

Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at the loss of Randy Gail Allen, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend who passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021, at his home in Vidor, Texas, at the age of 64.

Born on May 18, 1957, Randy was a member of the Class of 1976 at Port Neches-Groves High School, where he played as a lineman on the varsity football team. He went on to be employed as a steelworker in Beaumont for three decades, and he later graduated from Lamar Institute of Technology and pursued a career in HVAC repair until his retirement.

In his leisure time, this consummate car guy enjoyed driving his Corvette and watching racing, especially NASCAR, and he was active with the Tri-City Corvette Club. In addition, he loved to watch western movies and spend time outdoors camping and fishing.

Above all else, he took tremendous pride in his family, for whom he modeled the values of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance. Preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Joyce Allen, he is survived by his two sons, Justin Allen and his wife, Mandy, and Ryan Allen and his wife, Anna; his two granddaughters, Audrey and Bridget Allen; his sisters, Connie Legg, Sherry Pontinen and her husband, Russ, and Debra K. Powell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends to honor the life of Randy G. Allen will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas. A funeral service and interment will immediately follow the visitation at 2:30 p.m. at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, TX.

I've known Randy since 7th grade. In jr. high & high school, we had some classes together; & yes, I would say we were friends. My husband, Larry, & I both graduated with Randy. Through the years, we would see him occasionally at class reunions. In 2018, when I got on Facebook, we really connected as friends. It wasn't just on Facebook; but texts, calls, & a trip to NRG Stadium to watch our PN-G Indians in a playoff game. Randy would say, when this pandemic is over, he would love to get together with us more often. Of course, the pandemic still continues. Randy & I have 2 unique & unexpected occurrences involving cowboy hats; one in the 9th grade (1973) & one in 2018. We would laugh at the coincidences of these 2 occurrences. I've been missing Randy since I heard of his passing. It left me with a heavy heart. My prayers go out to all who are mourning the passing of my dear friend. :purple_heart: Kay (Block) & Larry Bourghs
