Ray Broussard

Ray Broussard was born on March 25, 1931, in Loreauville, Louisiana. He entered eternal rest and God's embrace on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, surrounded by family at his daughter's home in Leander, Tx. He was 79 and the son of Isadore and Felice Herbert Broussard. A resident of Groves for 54 years, Ray was a dedicated husband and father of three children, a Navy-trained weatherman and retiree of the National Weather Service with a career spanning 30 years, a lifetime member of the Sabine Neches Fire Chief's Association, a member of VFW #4820 and National Association of Retired Federal Employees, a U.S. Navy veteran serving as Quartermaster during the Korean Conflict, a spiritual seeker, a teller of jokes, and a good-humored and caring friend. Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Broussard of Groves; daughter, Judith Swanzy and husband, Shawn of Leander; sons, Kim Broussard and wife, Ann Frances of Groves, Troy Broussard and wife, Cyndi of Friendswood; seven grandchildren, Brandi Swanzy, Chase Swanzy, Ian Swanzy, Heather Broussard, Alisha Broussard, Courtney Broussard, and Ella Broussard; two great-grandchildren, Bailey Swanzy and Joseph Swanzy. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 3, 2011 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas with Reverend T. R. Blanco officiating. Graveside Military Honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be Sunday evening from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., with a Rosary Services conducted at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends wishing to make memorial contributions may send them to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
