Ray Elton Stanfield

Ray E. Stanfield, 97, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Emeritus Retirement Community. He was born on February 19, 1916 in Timpson, Texas to the late Ira Emmett Stanfield and Anna Lula Wedgeworth Stanfield. He retired as a chemical operator and was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during WWII where he trained others to be pilots.

A graveside service will conducted on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of the family and friends will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland prior to the service.

Ray is survived by his sons, Kenneth Stanfield and wife, Nelly of St. Charles, Illinois and Roger Stanfield and wife, Irma of Friendswood; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Marjorie Caston Stanfield.
