Reverend Thomas "T.J." Sasser, 101, of Port Neches, Texas passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at his home. T.J. was born May 20, 1918 in Bogue Chitto, Mississippi to Thomas Jefferson Sasser, Sr. and Ollie Redd Sasser. He was a resident of Port Neches for 75 years and a member of First Baptist Church Port Neches, and Port Neches Masonic Lodge #1163. T.J. retired from Texaco where he was a Safety Supervisor with 42 years of service. He was an Ordained Minister and a US Army WWII Veteran. He served the City of Port Neches for 13 years as a City Councilman and as Mayor. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Lynn Sasser officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. T. J. was preceded in death by his wife Edna Sasser, a sister, and 2 brothers. Surviving relatives include his 2 sons, Lynn Sasser and wife Sandra of Mexico City, Mexico, and Ronnie Sasser and wife Charlotte of Groves, Texas; 6 grandchildren, Tammi Ogletree and husband Ben, Timm Sasser and wife Katherine, Tina Sasser, Darin Sasser and wife Roxie, Chad Sasser and wife Kim, and Amber Crenshaw and husband Steven; 22 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

So sorry for your loss. I have been blessed to have met your Dad and to become friends. It started out dropping off his paper at the door, then leaving it on the counter with a quick "Good Morning" and finally bringing it to him and sitting and visiting with him. I really got to know him as a person, a neighbor and more importantly as a Friend. I will cherish my time with him.

I served with Bro. Sasser at the Woodcrest Mission in Port Neches for some time and then for a short time at Woodcrest, Port Arthur. He was a true friend but I know there was a great reunion with his Edna. God bless the family and all his many friends.
