Ricardo Owen Wood, 90, of Nederland, Texas, peacefully fell asleep in Jesus, surrounded by family, at his home on Friday, November 17, 2023.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches. Officiating will be Elder Mike Jones and Pastor Mark Dubon. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches.
Born in Guanaja Bay Islands, Honduras, on October 27, 1933, he was the son of Richard and Belle Wood. Ricardo was a life-long member and Elder of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Groves. He also held the classification of engineer in the Merchant Marines. He was the proud owner of Wood’s Auto Detail in Port Arthur until his retirement in 2012. In his spare time, Ricardo loved reading his Bible, gardening, and taking care of animals, especially wounded or baby birds. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard, and Belle Wood; his sisters, Ruth Reeves, Eleanor Ebanks, Esther Hyde, and Ethel Phillips; and his brothers, Peter Wood and Spicer Wood.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Wood; his daughters, Theresa McDonald and husband, Dwight of Nederland, and Wendy Trevino and husband, Jason of Dallas; his grandchildren, Stacey Hardin and husband Paul Wayne, Travis Thornburg, Ethan Trevino, Jennifer McDonald, and Mark McDonald; his great-grandchildren, Gage, Madi, Tucker, Emma, and Asher; his sister, Alice Faye Phillips and husband, Percy of Tampa, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Trevino, Travis Thornburg, Phillip Rhodes, Paul Wayne Hardin, Ed Bush, and Joe Beard. Honorary pallbearers are Ethan Trevino, and Gage Hardin.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tasha Broom and the staff at Hospice Plus/Gentiva.
Ricardo will be dearly missed but never forgotten. We look forward to seeing him again on the resurrection morning.
