Richard Willard Landry, 76, of Groves, Texas passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010 at his home after a long and courageous battle. He was born on October 6, 1933 in Port Arthur, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of the area graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School. At one time he was a member of the Groves Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing Dominoes with his friends. Some of his most memorable times were spending time at the family camp. Due to medical reasons, he took an early retirement from Gulf Oil Corporation. He was a member of IBEW Local 479 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 55 years, JoAnn Landry; his son, Kyle Landry; his parents, Ovey and Ada Landry; brothers, Pat Landry, Ovey Landry, Jr., and Roy Landry; and granddaughter, Kimberly Landry. He is survived by his son, Kevin Landry of Groves, Texas; daughter, Kelly Adams and husband, Clay of Mauriceville, Texas; sisters, Edna Mae Reeves and husband, Curtis and Dorothy Dorman; grandchildren, Chris Landry and wife, Glenna, Veronica and Gates Adams, Kayla and Kristina Landry; great grandchildren, Kimberly, Nicole and Paige. Other survivors include, Vach and Rudy Landry, V.J., Melissa, Josh, Temple and Jhai Landry, sister-in-law, Marilyn Ramsey and husband, Mark, sister-in-law, Carol Barras, brother-in-law, Ron Barras and wife, Anna, along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m.-8:00p.m. , with a Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Chris Landry, Gates Adams, Doug Romero, David Romero, Mark Ramsey and Clay Adams.
