Richard Leon Malone, 84, of Nederland, Texas passed away Thursday, April 13., 2023, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Richard was born December 11, 1938 in Downsville, Louisiana to Charles and Vennie Malone.
Richard was a member of Magnolia Assembly of God Church in Port Neches and retired from Texaco/Huntsman Refinery after thirty-five years of service. During his tenure with Huntsman Corporation, he was involved in the Huntsman Newsletter. Richard entered in the United States Air Force on September 14,1960 and was Honorably discharged on September 11, 1964. He was an avid photographer and gardener who spent his time working in his greenhouse.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Albert Malone and Vennie Rowena (Aulds) Malone; sister, Carol Sanford; brother, Charles Marvin Malone; and a grandson, Taylor Bandsma.
Those left to cherish Richard’s memory include his loving wife of sixty years, Betty L. Malone of Nederland, Texas; daughters, Michaella Fontenot and her husband, Gregg of Ville Platte, Louisiana; and Penny Malone of Nederland, Texas; son, Richard Malone and his wife, Andra of Port Neches, Texas; grandchildren, Josh Bandsma and Kaylee, Emma Bandsma and Josh, Taylor (deceased) and MaryAnn; great grandchildren, Avery, Daniel, Colson and Baby; sister, Margaret Upton Bissett.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, April 17, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A Celebration of Richard’s Life will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Melancon’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.
