Richard Ramsey Sr., 80, of Port Arthur, passed away on October 12, 2022, at the Medical Center of SETX in Port Arthur.
A Mass Service will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Groves, at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022
Officiating will be Reverend J.C Coon
Visitation will be at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2022.
He was born November 23, 1941, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Frank and Alcyone Ramsey. He was married to the love of his life Rosa Ramsey. He worked with Laborers Local #853 until his retirement many years ago. He was known as Brown Boy, Dickie, and his favorite, Grandpa. As a young man, Richard was an amateur boxer with Menchaca’s Boxing Academy in Port Arthur, TX and was very fond of his memories. His work ethic and desire to care for his family was his number one priority. He never met a stranger; he loved all sports, most of all, the Dallas Cowboys. His hobbies were doing his yardwork, taking his grandchildren out on adventures, and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his son, Santos Alvarez Jr., sister, Annie Boudreaux, and, aunt, Margaret Gutierrez.
He is survived by his wife Rosa V. Ramsey of Port Arthur, TX; daughters Elizabeth Ramsey of Fort Worth, TX; Sandra Vasquez and her husband Johnny of Fort Worth, TX; Melinda Williams and her husband Ken of Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania; Christine Marsh and her husband Greg of Groves, TX; daughter-in-law, Bianca of Groves, TX, sons, Richard Ramsey Jr. of Fort Worth, TX; Mike Alvarez of Belpre, Ohio; and Ricky Ramsey of Port Arthur, TX; grandchildren, Teresa, Veronica, Miguel, Jay, Johnny Jr., Secilia, Tyler, Nic, Carson, Courtney, Ross Melanie, Mia, Milo, Christopher and many great-greatgrandchildren; brothers, James Ramsey and his husband Rowdy of Fort Worth, TX; Louis Carl Ramsey of Fort Worth, TX; Don Ramsey of Port Arthur, TX; sisters, JoAnn Ramsey of Deweyville, TX; Linda Lopez and her husband Jose of Groves, TX; Doris Alfaro of Beaumont, TX; and Margaret Perez of North Richland Hills, TX.
Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Vasquez Jr., Chris Alvarez, John Guerrero, Tyler Williams, Nic Williams, Carson Williams, and Ross Marsh.
