Robert Lee Chapman, affectionately known as Rob or Robbie, 46, of Port Neches, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Born on December 29, 1977, Rob was a husband, father, son, brother, and friend who brought joy and laughter to everyone he encountered.
A graduate of Port Neches Groves High School, Rob proudly played football for many years. Rob's career included a recent role as a parts manager at Advance Auto Parts and an admirable seventeen years of service at the TDCJ - Gist Unit. Rob was well-known for his infectious smile and a personality that radiated warmth. He never met a stranger, and his ability to connect with people made a lasting impression on all who crossed his path. He was an avid fisherman and loved making people laugh, often bringing joy through his playful spirit as a huge jokester.
Rob is survived by his wife, Heather Chapman, and their children, Katelyn and Andrew; father and stepmother, Frank and Peggy Chapman; brother, Chris Chapman and wife Krystal; his sister-in-law, Andrea Chevalier and husband Gary; and step siblings B.J. Janeaux and Kim Aguilar. Robs is also survived by nieces, Audrey Boucher and husband Ryan, and Allison Chevalier; and a host of extended family and friends.
Rob was a member of First Baptist Church in Port Arthur. Deeply committed to his church, Rob took pride in his involvement, particularly in the audio and visual department, where he dedicated his time to enhancing the community's worship experience.
Rob was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Marie Chapman, and his son, Jason Chapman.
He will be profoundly missed by his surviving family members and friends, who will carry his memory and the love he shared with them in their hearts forever.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with a memorial service to begin at 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church located at 3948 FM 365, Port Arthur.
