My thoughts are of you today, Cliff, with deepest sympathies to your family and friends. I hero-worshipped you when I was 12 and you were friends with my big brother, and I was proud to be your Facebook friend as an adult, when I discovered that you were still a hero as a truly fine and good man. God rest your soul. x

My best memory from you was when you took me to Barton Springs. You will be greatly missed.

I got a chance to know Cliff when we worked together at the prison in Kyle. He was my supervisor for a while. I remember he would use all this clinical terminology and would talk above everyone's head that no one would know what the hell he was talking about. He truly was an amazing person. And he was the best person to have as your secret Santa. He always gave the coolest gifts. I am truly honored to have known him. My sympathy goes out to his family. May he rest in peace. Love you Cliff.

Cliff, you were one of my best friends on Facebook. I simply can't believe you're gone! Thank you so much for your friendship! Bless you in the afterlife and the next life and may you find happiness always.

Ray, I am not sure if you remember me, but we went to High School together. I am sorry for the loss of your brother, my sympathy to you and your family. My God watch over you and your family with this loss.

Cliff of the towering intellect and the gentle spirit, so sincere and full of genuine concern for the cares and burdens of others, you will inspire and lift me up for all my days. I will hold you in my heart and your light will live on. Rest in sweet peace, my good and faithful friend.

My deepest sympathy to all of Cliffs family & friends, I know he is deeply missed! It is obvious the impact he had on so many lives & the memories he left everyone with will last forever! RIP Cliff!

Gods football team just got better with Cliff on his team. God Bless his family in this difficult time.

Weekly, Cliff returned rosaries to me for a fix, with bead holes packed with sand! One day I finally said, "Cliff! Can't you keep your rosaries out of the sand when you pray?" And he replied, "I do! I don't know how it happens!", and the mystery went unsolved for the longest time, that is until the day Cliff arrived turning out pockets full of rosaries sitting in pockets filled with sand, and we laughed and laughed for the longest time with mystery solved. Cliff is most definitely our monk that lived in the desert; I know, because I am his rosary maker, and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I wish to extend my sincere condolences to the Hammond Family. In the few short years that I've known him, I must say that Cliff had a much older, kindred spirit. He had the foresight of that of a very wise elder...a prophet perhaps. Cliff will always remain in my heart...forever. ~Love You my pal and mentor.

Cliff was a gentle brother. A mischievous trickster and self proclaimed mendicant desert monk, he walked in humor a path of integrity, service to others and critical-inquiry. He was the first to laugh at himself and by so doing taught the rest of us to laugh at the human condition we all share. He befriended dogs, considering them his teachers for living in the present, "as dogs will do if you let them, Michael" he would say. He was an avid explorer, finding even the desert of west Texas an anthropological treasure worthy of awe and wonder. And he taught us to see the beauty therein though his photography. He renounced the acquisition of material goods except for a computer, which he used to intellectually spar with all those capable of keeping his incisive pace. He loved his friends and family - both those by relation of birth and those strays he picked up along the way, of which I am gratefully one of many. He was a friend, good and true, and I will deeply miss him.

To Cliff's family, I extend my heartfelt sorrow at your loss and my prayer that you find peace. To Cliff, I cannot say a lot more than has already been said. Just know, and I am sure you know, that you were always an inspiration in my professional life and will always be the same in my personal life.

Cliff was the first man that I ever met, that meant the world to me. He was a kind, respectful man and I will never forget him and he will always be in my heart. I enjoyed every minute of our time together. He will be greatly missed.

To my dear friend Professor Cliff Hammond. You were one of the brightest stars in my sky, Prof. You still are. I look up and I see you. You will always shine brighter than most I see. Your wisdom, your wit, your intelligence, your charisma, your devotion to your friends, your completely unselfish nature, your empathy, your artistic and expressive photography, just everything about you was very, very, very special. Although I will miss you more than words can express I know that you will always, always, always remain with me. I love you, Prof.

You can always count your friend a blessing when one can only remember positive attributes that come from that friend, Cliff was such a friend. Whenever I was around Cliff (at PNG)his smile and energy were uplifting. Like so many other classmates we only recently reconnected via facebook and as such I found out he and I had a love for gospel and spritual music. God Bless him and I pray the family are comforted in their time of grief.

For Cliff: You represent the good found in each of us. I'll replay our conversations in my mind and heart today and for years to come. You found beauty in the simplified life and shared it with the rest of us through your photography. I'll never look at a dilapidated fence, red sunset, flock of geese, field of wildflowers or an old dog that I won't think of you. Because of you, I'm a better listener and far better friend. I'll share the books you gave me with a few friends, but I'll keep a fair number for myself--that way you will always be near..Rest in peace dear friend...
